The Perioperative Shared Health Record is a secure patient-centered digital health tool that enables a surgical patient to share information on their health status before surgery, and on outcome for up to one year after a surgical procedure. It facilitates the capturing of clinical information by surgeons and anaesthetists and allows the surgical team to compare the outcomes at a team level with aggregated outcomes data in the system. This may enable self-regulation and quality of care improvement at a team or micro level. The PSHR is currently being used in a surgical outcomes study and is ready to be scaled for use in a larger geographical area. The use case is low resource settings where it will be customizable upon client requirements.
